4 Italian traditions to create your own la dolce vita

13. Feb. 2023

In Italy, they know very well how to make life sweet without words. Good food and excellent wines make it easy to enjoy life in its entirety. This easygoing attitude to life - la dolce vita, is what many Swiss long for. Here are four Italian habits that will help you internalise la dolce vita.

The Apèro - a moment of Italian joie de vivre

For a little moment, before dinner, enjoy pure relaxation and wait for friends to gather.

You meet a few friends for a glass of Vino Frizzante d'Italia Rosato from Senza Parole, accompanied by nibbles of various snacks. The focus here is on conviviality, on detaching oneself from the thoughts of everyday life: a break in which one can recharge one's batteries without wasting too many words.

Enjoying moments together

It is typical for us Swiss to serve up an opulent snack for family and friends, especially on Sundays.

In Italy, there is no need for a fixed day for this. Despite work and daily exertion, hardly any Italians miss the opportunity to get together with their loved ones in the evening. Over homemade pasta and delicious wine, they let the sense of community, sociability and the joy of life live high.

Socialising

Rarely do you see so many smiling faces as you do on a piazza after work - the atmosphere is as sparkling as the Vino Frizzante d'Italia. If someone accidentally pushes an Italian and then apologises, the incident can turn into an

exchange of compliments and an acquaintance, if not a friendship. We also carry this joy of conviviality in our hearts, so we should simply dare to socialise more often and turn strangers into friends.

The best things happen without words

La dolce vita, the sweet life, is a symbol. When worrying thoughts dominate your everyday life, it's time to stop and enjoy the moment.

Italians also take this to heart. They know when it is time to think of themselves and relax for themselves. Realise in the moment that you are alive. It sounds simple and completely unspectacular, but if you are constantly in thought, you will miss the little special moments like the friendly smiles of strangers or the beauty of nature.
